Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen welcomes LG Sinha’s probe in Ganderbal encounter, demands Impartial Probe
Says investigation Should Be Comprehensive, Transparent, and Time-Bound
Authorities Must Ensure Truth Is Established and Family Is Granted Justice
Credible Inquiry to Restore Public Confidence in Administration
Srinagar, April 4, 2026: Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Cabinet Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Saturday welcomed the probe ordered by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha regarding the alleged Ganderbal encounter.
He strongly urged that a thorough, impartial, and time-bound inquiry be conducted to establish the facts surrounding the incident.
In a statement to media, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said, “It is critical that this investigation does not follow the pattern of past inquiries which have often remained inconclusive. This must be a genuine, transparent probe conducted within a defined timeframe, so that justice is delivered to the aggrieved family.”
He further emphasized that the inquiry should not be a mere formality or routine exercise. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have long suffered from instances of injustice. It is essential that this investigation is comprehensive, impartial, and completed promptly, leaving no room for ambiguity or delay,” Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen said.
Highlighting the importance of accountability, he added, “Every citizen has the right to justice, and it is the responsibility of the authorities to ensure that the truth is established and those responsible are held accountable. Only a transparent inquiry can restore public confidence in the administration.”
Yaseen also underlined the emotional and social impact of such incidents.
“The loss of a young life under disputed circumstances causes deep grief to the family and shakes the confidence of the community. It is imperative that the authorities act with fairness and integrity, and ensure that justice is not only done but also seen to be done,” he said.
He reiterated that the time-bound magisterial inquiry ordered by the Lieutenant Governor is an opportunity to demonstrate the administration’s commitment to justice.
“A credible and transparent investigation will set a precedent that no wrongdoing will go unchecked. It is a chance to reassure the people of Jammu and Kashmir that their concerns are taken seriously and that the rule of law is upheld,” Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen concluded.
