Budgam Police Intensifies Anti-Narcotics Drive — Major Achievements in 2025
Budgam, 31 December 2025:
Budgam Police achieved significant success in its sustained crackdown on drug trafficking during the year 2025, reaffirming its zero-tolerance policy against narcotics.
During the year, properties worth ₹3.69 crore were attached under the NDPS Act, including 08 residential houses, 02 shopping complexes, 06 kanals and 01 marla of land, and 03 vehicles, all acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trade.
Budgam Police arrested 83 drug peddlers, detained 15 individuals under PIT NDPS, and registered 58 FIRs under the NDPS Act. Contraband substances worth approximately ₹2.57 crore, including charas, ganja, cannabis, poppy straw, and heroin, were seized. Convictions were secured against 03 accused persons, reinforcing the department’s strong resolve against drug trafficking.
In addition, 46 kanals of illegal poppy and bhang cultivation were destroyed during special drives across the district.
As per legal procedures, Budgam Police conducted a mass disposal of seized narcotics under the supervision of the District Level Drug Disposal Committee. A total of 210.781 kilograms of narcotic substances, seized in 34 NDPS FIRs and valued at around ₹1 crore, were destroyed in strict compliance with Section 52-A of the NDPS Act at the Kashmir Healthcare System Bio-Medical Waste Unit, IGC Lasipora, Pulwama.
