Massive Crackdown on Illegal Mining and Mineral Transportation in Budgam
Budgam: – In a major enforcement drive against illegal mining and unauthorized transportation of minerals, the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Budgam, in coordination with Budgam Police, has seized 20 vehicles and heavy machinery allegedly involved in illegal mining and mineral transportation activities.
The action is being widely appreciated by residents across Budgam, particularly environmentalists and people associated with the protection of natural resources. Locals said that strict enforcement is necessary to curb the unchecked extraction of minerals and protect agricultural land, water resources and the overall environment.
Illegal mining and unauthorized transportation can have serious consequences for the district’s ecology, including damage to agricultural areas, water bodies and natural landscapes. Residents have therefore urged the authorities to maintain strict and sustained monitoring and enforcement against such activities across Budgam.
People have also called upon the concerned departments to ensure that those found violating the applicable laws are dealt with firmly and that illegal mining activities are not allowed to continue.
The enforcement action by the DMO Budgam and Budgam Police has been appreciated as an important step towards protecting the district’s natural resources and ensuring compliance with mining regulations.
