Jammu & Kashmir Trade Union Council Holds One-Day Convention at Peerbagh
Srinagar, April 26, 2026:
( Kashmir Crux ) .A one-day convention of the Jammu & Kashmir Trade Union Council was successfully held today at its sub-office in Peerbagh under the chairmanship of its President, Abdul Majeed Parray. The convention witnessed the participation of a large number of trade union leaders, employee representatives, and workers from various departments, reflecting strong unity and commitment towards safeguarding employees’ rights.
The meeting was graced by prominent leaders from the All India Trade Union Council, including General Secretary S. G. Mishra and S. K. Tiwari, along with several other national-level representatives who expressed solidarity with the employees of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the convention, speakers highlighted the pressing challenges faced by employees, particularly temporary workers who have been serving in different departments for years without regularization. The leaders stressed that the issue requires immediate attention and urged the government to formulate a concrete policy for their confirmation, ensuring dignity and job security.
It was pointed out that thousands of temporary employees have dedicated the prime years of their lives to public service but continue to face uncertainty, low wages, and lack of benefits. The speakers called upon the government to acknowledge their contributions and take necessary steps for their early absorption into regular service.
The convention also discussed the delay in settlement of employees’ General Provident Fund (GP Fund) cases. The leaders expressed serious concern over the unnecessary delays, stating that GP Fund is the rightful money of employees and should be released without hurdles.
The participants unanimously demanded immediate clearance of all pending GP Fund cases and the establishment of a time-bound mechanism to ensure that claims are settled within 15 days. They emphasized that financial hardships caused by such delays are unacceptable.
The speakers further stressed the need to strengthen employee welfare measures, protect labour rights, ensure fair wages, and maintain transparency in service matters. They assured that the trade union movement will continue to raise these issues at every platform until justice is delivered.
Speaking on the occasion, President Abdul Majeed Parray thanked all dignitaries, national leaders, delegates, and participants for making the convention a grand success. He appreciated the support extended by visiting leaders from across the country.
He reiterated that the Jammu & Kashmir Trade Union Council stands firmly with temporary employees and all sections of workers in their struggle for justice, dignity, and rightful demands, and assured continued efforts until their genuine grievances are resolved.
